The City of Columbia Water and Light partnered with the  opens in a new windowBuilding Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) and the opens in a new windowNational Renewable Energy Laboratory System Advisor Model (NREL SAM) for residential and solar contractors.

Building Performance Institute, Inc.

opens in a new windowBPI is for residential contractors. BPI offers certification, standards, and programs to help enhance the building of homes. The BPI program certifies contractors working on home energy efficiency, comfort, durability, health and safety.

Contractors will be trained in the following areas:

  • Residential energy audits
  • Blower door testing
  • Ductwork testing
  • Combustion safety

National Renewable Energy Laboratory System Advisor Model

opens in a new windowNREL SAM is for solar contractors. SAM is a performance and financial model designed to help with decision making for people involved in the renewable energy industry. It offers grid-connected power projects, the cost estimate of installation and operating cost for their projects.
